Using a Printer

Power off your computer (o-page 11)
Do not shut down using the suspend or hibernation mode.

Do not install or remove peripherals while your computer is in the suspend {
or
hibernation ( ^ and^
mode; abnoimal operation may result.
Connect the printer to your computer

Some printer cables may be difficult to connect, and may require removal of the rear
cover. Take care not to lose the cover.

Turn on the printer, then turn on your computer
Setting your printer
Go to [My Computer] - [Printers]. Find your printer's icon, double-click on it, and click
[File] - [Set As Default]. If no icon is available, select [Add Printer] and install the driver
program.

You may need to install a driver for your printer. Simply follow the on-screen instmctions
and refer to the operation manual for the printer on how to install the driver.
Connecting a Docking Unit or Port Replicator
The port replicator (CF-VEB612A) or docking unit (CF-VEB611) connects to the expansion
bus connector on the bottom of your computer.
When your computer is not connected to the port replicator or docking unit, be sure that the
expansion bus port on the bottom of the computer is covered.
For more detailed information, please refer to the operation instructions for the port replicator
or docking unit.

# CardBus type PC Cards cannot be used in the PC Card slots of the port replicator.
• When the port replicator is connected to your computer and a total of three or more PC
cards are being used, deactivate unnecessary equipment using [Supervisor Setup] in the
Setup Utility.
