5. Connect a SATA or I DE hard disk drive.
6. Connect any addit ional st orage devices t o t he evaluat ion board.
7. Connect t he keyboard and m ouse.
Connect a PS/ 2- st yle or USB m ouse and keyboard ( see
connect or locat ions) .
Not e: J1A1 ( on t he baseboard) is a st acked PS/ 2 connect or. The bot t om connect or is for t he
keyboard and t he t op is for t he m ouse.
8. Connect an Et hernet cable ( opt ional) .
9. Connect t he m onit or t hrough t he VGA connect or.
10. Connect t he power supply.
Connect an appropriat e power supply t o t he evaluat ion board. Make sure t he power
supply is not plugged int o an elect rical out let ( t urned off ) . Aft er connect ing t he
power supply board connect ors, plug t he power supply cord int o an elect rical
out let .
11. Power up t he board.
Power and Reset are im plem ent ed on t he evaluat ion board t hrough but t ons locat ed
on SW1C1and SW1C2, respect ively. See
Turn on t he power t o t he m onit or and evaluat ion board. Ensure t hat t he fansink on
t he processor is operat ing.

12. I nst all operat ing syst em and necessary drivers
Depending on t he operat ing syst em chosen, all necessary drivers for com ponent s
included in t his developm ent kit can be found on t he enclosed CD. Please see
Sect ion 2.3
2 .6 Configur ing t he BI OS
AMI * BI OS is pre- loaded on t he evaluat ion board. The default BI OS set t ings m ay need
t o be m odified t o enable/ disable various feat ures of t he evaluat ion board. The set up
program can be used t o m odify BI OS set t ings and can be accessed during t he Power On
Self Test ( POST) . Set up opt ions are configured t hrough a m enu- driven user int erface.
