CATV or AntennaGrounding
Ifan outside antenna or cablesystem isconnected t o
thisproduct, b ecertain thatit is grounded s oasto pro
videsomeprotection a gainst voltage surges andstatic
charges. Section 810 of theNabonal Electrical Code,
ANSI/NFPA No.70 1984, provides i nformation with
respect to proper g rounding o f he mastandsupporting
structure, groundfTg of theleaddn wire to an antenna
discharge u nit,sizeof grounding conductors, Iocabon
ofantenna discharge u nit,connection t o grounding
elecl_odes andrequirements of thegrounding
ebcl_ode.
NOTE TO CATV SYSTEM INSTALLER: Thisreminder
is provided to call t he CATV (Cable TV)system
installer's a ttention t o article820 40 of the NEC that
provides g uidelines f orpropergrounding and,inpar
ticulah specifies thatthe cablegroundshall b e con
nettedto the grounding system of the building, as
closeto thepointof cableentryas possible.
InstallationLocation
• Toensureproper o peration andto avoidthepoten-
tialfor safetyhazards, placethe uniton a firmand
levelsurface. Whenplacing the uniton a shelf, b e
certain thatthe shelfandanymounting hardware
cansupport t heweightof the product.
• Makecertain thatproperspaceis provided both
above andbelowthe unittorventilation. Ifthis
product w ill be installed i na cabinet o r other
enclosed area,makecertain thatthereis sufficient
air movement withinthe cabinet. U nder somecir
cumstances, a fan mayberequired.
• Donot placethe unitdirecllyona carpeted
surface.
• Avoidinstallation in extlemely hotor coldlocations,
or inanareathatis exposed to directsunlight o r
heating equipment.
• Avoidmoistor humidlocations.
• Donot obstruct t he ventilation slotson the top of
the unit,or placeobjectsdirectlyoverthem.
• Dueto the weightof theAVB435 andthe heat
generated bythe amplifiers, thereis the remote
possibility t hatthe rubberpaddingon the bottom
of the unit'sfeetmayleavemarkson certain
woodor veneermaterials. Usecaution when
placing the unit on softwoodsor othermaterials
thatmaybe damaged by heator heavyobjects.
Cleaning
When the unitgetsdirty, w ipeit witha clean, s oft,dry
cloth.Ifnecessary, wipeit witha softclothdampened
withmildsoapy water, t henafreshclothwithclean
water. Wipedryimmediately witha drydotb.NEVER
usebenzene, aerosol cleaners, thinne_, alcohol o r any
othervolatile cleaning a gent, D onotuseabrasive d ean
ers,astheymaydamage thefinish of metal p arts. A void
spraying i nsecticide nearthe unit.
Movingthe Unit
Beforemoving the unit,becertain to disconnect any
interconnection coldswithothercomponents, and
makecertain thatyoudisconnect the unitfromthe
ACoutlet.

to cushionit fromshockandvibrahon. Wesuggest
thatyousavethe cartonandpackingmaterials f or
useinshipping if youmove, o r shouldtheunitever
needrepair.
Tominimize the sizeof the cartoninstorage, y oumay
wishto flatten it.Thisis donebycarefully s litting the
tapeseams on the bottomandcollapsing the carton.
Othercaidboaldinsallsmaybe storedinthesame
manne_. Packing materials t hatcannotbecollapsed
shouldbe savedalongwiththe cartonina plastic bag.
Ifyoudo not wishto savethe packaging materials,
please notethatthe cartonandothersections o f the
shipping protection a rerecydabb.Please respect t he
environment anddiscard thosematerials a t a local
recycling center.
At thistime,you shouldremove the protective p lastic
filmfromthe front-panel lens.Leaving the filminplace
will affect t he performance o f yourremote control.
