placethe microphone c loseto the speaker t o be
measured, at a distance of about3 feet.In addition,
thetop of the microphone s houldbe pointed towards
the speaker, rather t hanpointing upaswasdonefor
the FarFieldtests.Forthe firstmeasurement, place
the microphone s o thatit iscloseto, and
pointing towards, the l_ontleftspeaker, andwith
the on screen .e, cursorpointing to 1. FL

Step 10. Onesho_t testsignal w ill be sentto the

pause frothesystem to calculate thetestresults,

or a "Near F ieldError" message. In mostcases, the
"Complete" message willappea_, inwhichcaseyou
shouldproceed to Step11, if an "Error"message
appears, go to Step12.
Step 11. Ifthe testresults weresuccessful, the rues
sageshowninFigure 14 winappea_. Inorderto prop
erlycalibrate the system, y ouwillneedto runthe Near
Field testsfor allthreefrontchannel s peakers ( left,
centerandright). A fterrunning thetestforthe front
leftspeaker, makecertain thatthe cursoris pointing
towardsBACK TO NEAR FIELD
andpresa
the Set Button qi_iP. Whenyouaretakenbackto the
NearFieldSelectmenu(Figure 13)whereyoushould
repeat S tepsSthrough11 until a ll threefrontspeak
