Youarenewreadyto startthe EzSet/EQ process by

Step 1. Navigate to the EZSET/EQ
MODE
menu(Fig.7) by firstpressing theOSDButton
onthe remote. P ress the •

possible whilethesystemis inuse.Extraneous noise
of anykindmayadversely a ffecttheaccuracy of the

circulating, andif possible, turnoff anyventihllen sys
ternsif the noiseformtheair flowis loudenough for
youto hea_. Should an outside noisesuchasa phone
ringing occurduringthetest process, we recommend
thatyourerunEzSeVEQ. Thisscreen is alsoyour
reminder thatthetesttonesusedbyEzSet/EQ are
somewhat loud.Anyone withsansillve h earing should

IMPORTANT NOTE: A nyone withhearing thatis sen
sitiveto loudnoisasshouldleave the roomat this
point, o r useearprotection sufficient to reducethe
noise levelattheirears. I nexpensive foam-stjle ear
plugs, a vailable a t mostdrugstores, m aybe usedto
reduce the sound levelto a tolerable l evelforanyone
whohasa problem withloudnoise. I f youareuncom-
fortable with,or cannot t olerate loudsounds anddo
netusesomesortof earpmtecllon westrongly rec

elseto be present w hilethe EzSet/EQ process takes
place, o r thatyoudo netuseEzSet/EQ andenterthe
configuration s ettings manually, asdescribed onpages
26 through31.
Step 5. At thispointyouwillbeginto heara seriesof
testtonescirculate a mongallthe speakers i nyour
system. W hile thisis happening, theAVR435 is read
ingthesignal t o determine whichspeaker p osiSons
areactive, w hatb/peof speaker i s present a t each
activeposition, w hatthe distance isfromthe listening
posiSon t o eachspeakeT, andto beginto buildapm
fileofthe impact o f he room's acoustics o n he quality
of audioreproduction. Whenthetestis completed you
will hearthetonesstop,andthesystem will pause fors
longasa minute whilethe processor makesits calcu
lations. Donot bealarmed if the "WARNING" message
remains o n the screen aftertonesstopuntila results
message is displayed a sshownin Step6 or 7, below.
NOTE: W hile thesetestsdetect w hether a speaker i s
connected to a particular oulput,theycannot d eter
minewhether t he speaker i s inthe correct p osition.
(For example, it cantellwhether a speaker i s connected
to the Surround Right o utput, b ut it cannottellwhether
the speaker i s onthe rightor leftsideof yourlistening
room.)Forthatreason, w estrongly recommend t hat
youtry to listen asthe tonecirculates, matching the
name shownforeachchannel to the location of the
speaker. I fa toneis heardtom a speaker p osition that
doesnet matchtheon screenmessage, makea note
of the incorrect s peaker c onnections. When the test
process stopsyouwill seea message indicating t he
theyFarFieldmeasurements arecomplete, but since
thereisa connecSen errorpressthe •
