It is still possible to read the parameters. When SIL locking is enabled, restrictions apply on all communication options, such as the service interface (CDI-RJ45), HART protocol and WirelessHART protocol, local display and WLAN.

Systematic errors can be caused, for example, by medium properties, operating conditions, buildup or corrosion.
