FRONT WHEEL

CAUTION
The disassembly and reassembly of the
front wheel may be difficult for unskilled
operators.
If necessary, contact your aprilia
Authorised Dealer.
If you want to perform these operations
personally, keep to the following
instructions.

While disassembling and reassembling
the wheel, be careful not to damage the
brake lines, the disc and the pads.
WARNING
Riding with damaged rims may be
dangerous for the rider, other persons
and the vehicle.
Check the conditions of the wheel rim
and have it changed it if damaged.
CAUTION
Remove and refit the wheel only if you
have a torque wrench available that
c o u l d e n s u r e c o r r e c t t i g h t e n i n g
torques.
NOTE
Weight without rider: 180 kg.

DISASSEMBLY

Position the vehicle on the appropriate
fron t sup po r t stan d, se e p ag e 67
(POSITIONING THE VEHICLE ON THE
FRONT SUPPORT STAND

Put a support (1) under the tyre, in such
a way as to keep the wheel in its position
after loosening it.
Make sure that the vehicle is stable.
u
Loosen the retaining screws (2) and
remove the brake calliper.
Do not touch the front brake calliper.
u
Unscrew the wheel shaft nut (3).
u
Partially loosen the clamp screws (4) on
either side of the wheel shaft (5).
u
Unscrew the wheel shaft (5) completely.

NOTE
To facilitate the extraction of the
wheel shaft, slightly raise the wheel.
u
Support the front wheel and manually
withdraw the wheel shaft (5).
u
Collect the spacers on either side of the
wheel.
u
Remove the wheel by withdrawing it from
the front.
CAUTION
Never pull the front brake lever after
removing the wheel, otherwise the
calliper pistons may come out of their
seats, thus causing the outflow of the
brake fluid. In this case consult your
aprilia Authorised Dealer, who will
carry out the proper maintenance
operation.
