Head Cleaning

Types of Cleaning

The following four types of Head Cleaning are
available.
Auto Cleaning
The level is automatically changed, according to the
condition of the clog detected in a nozzle, and then
cleaning is done.
See the following for details on how to perform
cleaning.

Perform Head Cleaning as necessary
If there are gaps in the nozzle check pattern, or if there
are streaks in the print results, the colors are wrong, or
there are ink drops, perform Head Cleaning.
When Head Cleaning is complete, print the nozzle
check pattern again to check the condition of the
nozzles.

Perform Head Cleaning periodically
In Maintenance Setting, set Periodic Cleaning to On
to perform periodic Head Cleaning as a preventative
measure before clogs actually occur in the nozzles. Set
Print Duration, Print Counter, or Print Length as the
interval.

Set Maintenance Cleaning
In Maintenance Setting, set Maintenance Cleaning
to On to perform Head Cleaning automatically after a
set period of time has passed, to keep the print head in
good condition.

Performing Head Cleaning

Perform Auto Cleaning first. If this does not clear the
clogs, perform in the order of Cleaning (Light) and
then Cleaning (Heavy) until the clogs are cleared.

If nozzles are still clogged even after performing
Cleaning (Heavy)
The printer requires internal cleaning.
Perform the following according to the status of print
results.
When horizontal lines appear or the colors are wrong

Check that the printer is ready to print, press
, and then press Head Cleaning.
Select a cleaning method.
Select Auto Cleaning first.
Next, select Cleaning (Light).
And finally, select Cleaning (Heavy).
Head Cleaning starts.
A cleaning result message is displayed when
Head Cleaning is complete.
Check the message, and then click OK.
If clogging is cleared
Continue with normal operations.
If nozzles are still clogged
Go back to step 1, and then perform Cleaning
(Light). If nozzles are still clogged even after
performing Cleaning (Light), perform
Cleaning (Heavy).
