6.3 Setting Up the Concentrator

Plug in power c ord to an electrical o utlet. 1.
Connect H umidifier ( if s o prescribed). 2.

6.3.1 Setting Up the Humidifier

WARNING!
Risk of I njury or Damage
To avoid burns f rom steam or h ot w ater, i nhalation of
water and/or water damage to the concentrator:
– DO NOT fill h umidifier bottle with hot w ater. Allow
boiled water t o cool t o room temperature before
filling.
– DO NOT overfill h umidifier.
– Replace the humidifier c ap and securely tighten.
Confirm that t he cap is n ot c ross-threaded on the
humidifier b ottle.
– DO NOT reverse the oxygen input a nd output
connections. Water f rom the humidifier b ottle will
travel t hrough the cannula back to the patient i f i nput
and output c onnections a re reversed.
– When using t ubing c onnections l onger t han 7 ft
(2.1 m) i n length, position the humidifier a s c lose
to the patient a s p ossible to allow for m aximum
humidification output.

Failure to properly install t he humidifier bottle or other
accessories t o the concentrator will i mpact t he flow of
oxygen.
– To check for p roper o peration of the oxygen
concentrator a nd accessories, p lace the end of t he
nasal c annula under t he surface of a half-full c up of
water, only when the oxygen is f lowing, and look
for b ubbles i ndicating proper o peration. Wipe any
excess water off t he nasal p rongs when finished before
placing on the patient.
– If there are no bubbles, check all connections
(including humidifier b ottle and other a ccessories, i f
applicable) a nd repeat. Contact y our dealer or service
supplier immediately if b ubbles still d o not a ppear.
