START-UP CHECKLIST FOR CHS183-243 HEAT PUMP CONDENSING UNIT
NOTE: To avoid injury to personnel and damage to equipment or
property when completing the procedures listed in this start-up
checklist, use good judgment, follow safe practices, and adhere to the
safety considerations/information as outlined in preceding sections of
this Installation, Start-Up and Service Instruction document.

II. PRE-START-UP
OUTDOOR UNIT
Is there any shipping damage?
If so, where: _____________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Will this damage prevent unit start-up?
Check power supply. does it agree with unit?
Has the ground wire been connected?
Verify ground integrity with continuity test.
Has the circuit protection been sized and installed properly?
Are the power wires to the unit sized and installed properly?
CONTROLS
Are thermostat and indoor fan control wiring connections made and checked?
(Thermostat wiring must be made directly to the fan coil unit.)
Are all wiring terminals (including main power supply) tight?
Has crankcase heater been energized for 24 hours?
INDOOR UNIT
Has water been placed in drain pan to confirm proper drainage?
Are proper air filters in place?
Have fan and motor pulleys been checked for proper alignment?
Do the fan belts have proper tension?
Has correct fan rotation been confirmed?
PIPING
Is liquid line solenoid valve located at the outdoor coils as required?
Have leak checks been made at compressor, outdoor and indoor coils, TXVs (thermostatic expansion
valves), solenoid valves, filter driers, and fusible plugs with a leak detector?
Locate, repair, and report any leaks. __________________________________________________________________
Has liquid line service valve been opened?
Has vapor line service valve been opened?
