Remove W3
and
W4
from the A16
assembly. Loosen the other
end of
W3
so the
cable can swing
away
from the
A16
assembly.

CAUTION

W4
does not have
a
captive
nut.
When disconnecting W4,
be careful not
to put side pressure on the cable or the
center conductor
of
A16J1
may
be damaged.

Using
a
large posidnv, remove two screws (item 7) from the
RF
deck.

C. Disconnect
W13 from
A18.
Using
a
small posidriv, remove one
screw
(item
3)
that holds the A8 casting to the
A62
Mother¬
board. While performing
this
step, take note of the flange that the (item
3) screw
goes
through.
This flange
will
catch on nearby cables when you try to
open
the RF deck.
Move the
cables out of
the way when
swinging the
RF deck
open.
BOTH TOP AND BOTTOM OF
INSTRUMENT
8.
While holding W14 clear of A12 (Bottom of instrument), grip any handy component on the RF deck.
Push
the entire
RF
deck firmly toward the center
of
the instrument (away from the side panel)
and
pull
the A8 casting. The RF deck
will
swing open.

CAUTION
j
To avoid crushing A20 toroid
coils
mounted near
the
RF deck hinge, do
not open
the RF deck
to more than
a
45 degree angle from
its
original
position.

Using
a
small flat-head screwdriver or connector removal
tool, disconnect the
ribbon cable from the A13
SYTM.

CAUTION
j
Do not attempt to remove the ribbon
cable with
your fingers or you will
certainly bend
pins on the ribbon connector.

Remove the
following cables from
components
on the
RF
deck:

small tool,
see the above caution.
