Decommissioning Guidelines

Reference the following guidelines for decommissioning
rental AHUs prior to their return at the end of a rental job.

any additional information.
NOTICE:
Freezing Damage!
Trane Rental AHU units are prone to freeze damage
caused by cold ambient temperatures. In addition to the
guidelines below, please refer to the Trane Rental
Services Freeze Protection Policy referenced in your
rental agreement. Failure to take the outlined
precautions may result in equipment damage for which
customer will be liable.
[ ] Turn the disconnect located on the front of the unit to the
"OFF" position. Allow enough time for the supply fan to
come to a complete stop before opening any unit
access doors.
WARNING
Hazardous Voltage w/Capacitors!
Disconnect all electric power, including remote
disconnects and discharge all motor start/run
capacitors before servicing. Follow proper lockout/
tagout procedures to ensure the power cannot be
inadvertently energized. For variable frequency drives
or other energy storing components provided by Trane
or others, refer to the appropriate manufacturer's
literature for allowable waiting periods for discharge of
capacitors. Verify with an appropriate voltmeter that all
capacitors have discharged. Failure to disconnect
power and discharge capacitors before servicing could
result in death or serious injury.
[ ] Once the fan operation has stopped, de-energize the
main power supply.
[ ] Remove all external piping, temporary manifold pieces
(see piping configuration section on
Return P-trap and temporary manifold pieces to the bin
located in the mixed air chamber that is accessed
through the filter access door.
[ ] Open all coil drains.
1. Ensure the machine is either level, or tilted toward the
water connections
2. Open all drains and vents. Ensure that fluid is draining
freely. Check for drain line restriction if necessary.
a. Ensure drained fluid is collected and disposed of in
accordance with any applicable environmental
laws and regulations
3. Leave unit to drain until there is no more fluid coming
out. This may take up to an hour or more. Do not
relocate or release the unit for shipment until draining
is complete.
