MARKING
Note: When regulators and compressed air supply tubes that are exclusively marked EN1835 are used with S-Series headtops, the system will only meet the
requirements of EN1835.
PREPARATION FOR USE
Check that you have the appropriate size headtop for your head size - see Table 1 for guidance.
Select the headtop that fits most comfortably depending on your facial size and shape.
A size reducing comfort pad may be required with the premium head suspension to reduce the circumference around the head or to improve fit on the brow or top of
the head - see Table 2 for guidance.
Assembly and Adjustment.
The headtop should be adjusted to give the best face seal and field of vision.
• Remove any protective film from the visor
• S-100, S-300, S-400 and S-500 series
- Adjust the integrated head suspension as shown in Fig 1 .
• S-600, S-700 and S-800 series
- Adjust the premium head suspension as shown in Fig 2.
- If required, fit the size reducing comfort pad as shown in Fig 3 - 6 .
- Remove the standard comfort pad by removing from the attachment points on the suspension.
- The size reducing comfort pad forms the shape as shown in Fig 3 .
- Hook the two long slots on the comfort pad over the large top hooks on the suspension as shown in Fig 4 .
- Secure the comfort pad by using the smaller hooks on the suspension as shown by the arrows in Fig 5 and 6 .
- Insert head suspension into headtop as shown in Fig 7 . With the hood upside down and the visor facing towards you, insert the premium head suspension into
the hood.
- Pull the air inlet of the head suspension through the opening in the back of the hood. The fabric must be pulled past the lip of the air inlet (located just beneath
the blue airflow adjustment mechanism) and seated in the groove just above the airduct sealing ring - see Fig 8.
- Slide the visor tabs into the attachment clips on the head suspension as shown in Fig 9 .
^ Always pull the air inlet of the head suspension fully through the opening.
Check apparatus is complete, undamaged and correctly assembled. Any damaged or defective parts must be replaced with original 3M spare parts before use.
To help prevent damage to the headtop, a peel-off visor cover should be fitted before use.
If the visor/headtop becomes scratched or damaged, the complete headtop should be replaced.
S-800 Series: Inspect the sealed seams for damage. If damaged, the headtop should be replaced.
Undertake pre-use checks on Air Delivery Unit assembly as outlined in the appropriate user instruction.

assembly.
Inspect the gasket located on the bayonet end of the breathing tube (i.e. the end that connects to the Powered Air Turbo) for signs of wear or damage. If the seal is
worn or damaged, the breathing tube should be replaced.
Note: S-600, S-700, S-800 Series – Attach the airflow adjustment cover to the top end of the breathing tube and connect to the air inlet of the premium head

7. Adjust the airflow split by turning the airflow adjustment cover as shown in Fig 11 (S-600, S-700 and S-800 series only).
IN USE
Use in the power / air supply off state is not normal, there may be a rapid build up of carbon dioxide, depletion of oxygen and little or no protection is
provided, vacate the contaminated area immediately.
Take care to prevent the breathing tube from becoming looped around protruding objects. If this should occur vacate the contaminated area and check apparatus is
undamaged.
If during use the air supply stops or is reduced, vacate the contaminated area immediately and investigate the cause.
The 'in-use' life of the S -Series headtops will vary with frequency and conditions of use.
Headtops should be discarded if damage or deterioration is found.
DOFFING
Do not remove the headtop or turn off the air supply until you have vacated the contaminated area.
1. Grasp the headtop and lift off the head.
2. Switch off the Air Filter Unit or disconnect the compressed air supply tube from the Regulator.
