DC VOLTAGE MEASUREMENTS

DANGER
• Contact with live circuits can cause serious injury or death.
WARNING
• Do not touch probe ends while testing live circuits.
• Do not exceed rated voltages.
Electric shock or damage to tester may result.
CAUTION
• The tester has a built-in load, therefore, the operation and recovery time is specified as follows:
Voltage Range
9 ... 50V
50 ... 300 V
300 ... 700 V
Please note that the recovery time depends on the ambient temperature.
1. Unsnap the Secondary Test Probe from the tester.
2. Touch both test probe tips to the circuit under test. The tester switches on automatically for voltages
greater than 15 to 20 VDC. The voltage, polarity, and a "DC" will be displayed. The buzzer may or may not
sound during DC voltage testing. For accurate measurements when measuring voltages less than 15 to 20
V, the "Voltage-Test" button must be pressed.
Note: The polarity of the main body test probe is positive (i.e., tester indicates "
voltage at the main body tip is negative.)
PHASE TEST (Single Pole)
DANGER
• Contact with live circuits can cause serious injury or death.
WARNING
• Do not touch probe ends while testing live circuits.
Electric shock or damage to tester may result.
Note: A working battery is required for this test. Check battery and, if required, follow the Maintenance
instructions for Battery Replacement.
1. Unsnap the Secondary Test Probe from the tester (if required).
2. Touch the Main Body Test Probe tip to the circuit under test. The buzzer will sound for voltages above
approximately 80 VAC. No sound signifies a DC voltage or a voltage less than approximately 80 VAC.
Note: The phase test function is designed to operate on a normally earthed AC electrical system. A false
result may also be given if the user is standing in an isolated position (e.g. on a ladder, or a heavily
insulated floor covering).
