Field Memory Recorder (Chapter 4: Basic connections)
FR-2LE
The [ANALOG IN] section of the FR-2LE provides combo type balanced connectors which
combine XLR-3-31 (pin 2=hot) and TS phone jacks. These connectors accept a wide
range of inputs from microphone level to line level.
When you connect external microphones or line outputs of an external audio device as
recording sources, set the "Source Sel" menu item on the "Setup" menu in the MENU
mode to "Input". (When you make recording using the internal microphones, set this
item to "I MIC L" or "I MIC R".) See pages 57 and 94 for details.

Connecting to an external microphone

You can connect an external microphone to either of the [ANALOG IN (L, R)] connec-
tors using an XLR connector. The XLR connection accepts an analog audio signal be-
tween -50dBu and -10dBu nominal level. You can adjust the L and R input levels inde-
pendently using the [TRIM] controls.
The FR-2LE provides the HPF (high-pass filter) and limiter functions which are useful
for recording using external microphones. It also provides +48V phantom power capa-
bility for condenser microphones. See pages 55 and 92 for details about HPF and
limiter on/off settings. See page 95 for details about phantom power on/off setting.
Connecting to the line outputs of an external device
You can connect the line outputs of an external audio device to the [ANALOG IN (L, R)]
connectors using 1/4" TS phone plugs.
The phone plug connection accepts a -10dBV analog audio signal.
