Servicing the air filter

This model's air filter has two filter ele-
ments. The sponge-type primary filter
element can be cleaned, lubricated,
and re-used. The secondary filter ele-
ment is an oil-coated paper type which
must only be replaced.
The air filter elements should be main-
tained at the intervals specified in the
periodic maintenance and lubrication
chart. Service the air filter elements
more frequently if you ride in unusually
wet or dusty areas.
Cleaning the primary air filter ele-
ment
1. Remove panel B. (See page 7-7.)
2. Remove the air filter case cover by
removing the screws.

with kerosene or diesel. After

or explosion, do not use gaso-
line or solvents with a low flash

and do not twist it.
