    Operation panel of the machine q [ON/OFF] key Turns the machine on and off (keep pressed for a brief interval). Before turning on the machine, make sure the document cover is closed. w [Copy] key Switches the machine to copy mode. e [Scan] key Scans a document to your computer according to the action selected.

This ensures optimum print quality but also consumes a small amount of ink during the cleaning process. For this reason, it is recommended that you only turn the machine off with [ON/OFF] when instructed to do so in this guide.

    My MultiPASS My MultiPASS is a folder that contains the Scan to Save folder that stores scanned images. q Scan to Save folder—Stores scanned images in the My Pictures folder, or if not available, in the My Documents folder or Scan to Save folder. My MultiPASS works within Windows Explorer and thus has a similar structure.

    MultiPASS Viewer The MultiPASS Viewer allows you to open and view documents stored in the Scan to Save folder. Once open in the Viewer, if you want to edit your document, you can open it in the MultiPASS Photo Enhancer to make advanced image adjustments, such as applying filters or effects to your document.

    Is the machine selected as the default printer? You can check if your machine is set as the default printer when you open the Print dialog box in an application and your machine is selected in the Printer box (see below for details).

An index is useful to see small versions of all photographs in a memory card without having to print each photograph individually. When you print an index, a number A is assigned to each thumbnail. You will need these numbers to select the photographs you want to print in a larger format.

    – Color ink tank: BCI-24 Color • To ensure optimum printing results and to avoid printing problems, Canon recommends using original Canon ink tanks only. Damage caused by using refilled ink tanks is not covered by Canon’s warranty. • Replaced ink tanks should be new. If you install partially used ink tanks, the nozzles may block and the ink counter may not be accurate.

    Resetting the ink counter The ink counter keeps track of how much ink is left in the ink tanks allowing the machine to warn you when ink is running low. It also allows you to check the current ink level of the ink tanks at any time.

Remove the old version of the MultiPASS Suite software following the instructions in the Software Guide of that version and try reinstalling the new version.

    If nothing displays in the LCD (if there is no power) When you connect the power cord to the machine and wall outlet, and press [ON/OFF], the machine powers up and a message is displayed in the LCD. While the Alarm light blinks, the machine is initializing and you will not be able to use it. Wait until the Alarm light stops blinking.
