Time synchronization

7KN Powercenter 1000 devices and all connected communication and metering circuit
protection devices can take part in time synchronization via SNTP (Simple Network Time
Protocol) like many other SENTRON devices. This can only take place with an existing Internet
connection.
This allows events and measured variables to be assigned a point in time.
UTC time is used in the 7KN Powercenter 1000. The time stamps are displayed in the
software according to the time zone set on the device.
Note
The system time of the 7KN Powercenter 1000 must be synchronized during the initial
commissioning procedure. Either once with the mobile device via powerconfig or cyclically
via a time server in the parameter view. The latter is recommended because the time is
automatically synchronized again once the 7KN Powercenter 1000 has been switched off.
The one-off time synchronization of the 7KN Powercenter 1000 device is possible via
powerconfig. However, the time setting gets lost when the supply voltage is switched off.
Therefore, time synchronization via an SNTP server is recommended.
Using the selected synchronization mode, the 7KN Powercenter 1000 cyclically receives the
current time of the selected time server/SNTP server and continues this internally. To do so,
the IP address of the time server must be entered.
A typical SNTP server is the 7KN Powercenter 3000, if it has been configured accordingly.
Alternatively, the PC with SENTRON powermanager can also be used for this purpose.
Many systems offer the standardized SNTP server function. If necessary, the appropriate ports
(123) must be opened for this in the firewalls.
There are also country-specific time servers, which can be reached via the Internet. For
example, in Germany it is a time server of the National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB)
with the following IP address: 192.53.103.108
Note
The contents of the trends are deleted in the SENTRON powerconfig mobile app at a system
time jump of > 30 minutes. Messages remain intact with the appropriate time stamp of the
entry.
