3. Loosen the clamp at the duct of
the air cleaner/filter housing.
4. Unlatch the retaining clips on the
air cleaner/filter housing.
5. Lift cover at retaining clip
location high enough to
clear retaining clips and pull
cover outward to remove cover
from the air cleaner/filter housing
hinges.
6. Pull straight up on cover, while
holding the cover remove the
air filter.
7. Inspect or replace the air filter.
See Maintenance Replacement
Parts on page 10-9.
8. Reverse steps 6 to 1 to install
cover.

WARNING
Operating the engine with the air
cleaner/filter off can cause you
or others to be burned. The air
cleaner not only cleans the air; it
helps to stop flames if the engine
backfires. If it is not there and the
engine backfires, you could be
burned. Do not drive with it off, and
be careful working on the engine
with the air cleaner/filter off.
Notice: If the air cleaner/filter
is off, a backfire can cause a
damaging engine fire. And, dirt
can easily get into the engine,
which will damage it. Always have
the air cleaner/filter in place when
you are driving.

When it is safe to lift the hood:
3.6 L V6 Engine
A. Coolant Recovery Bottle
B. Electric Cooling Fans
C. Radiator Cap
(under engine cover)
