INDICATIONS AND WARNINGS

Bendix
®
Wingman
®
ACB functions act differently than
other cruise control/forward collision warning systems. It
is important that the driver fully understand the system's
features, especially the driver indications and warnings.
Two important warnings provided by the Bendix
ACB system are the Following Distance Alert (FDA)
and Impact Alert (IA). The driver will be alerted by FDA
warnings, whether or not the cruise control is activated. The
driver is only alerted to IA warnings when in cruise control
®
mode with Bendix
Wingman
An additional warning of the Bendix
system is the Close Cut-In Alert. This alert (a fast beeping
sound) activates when a vehicle cuts in front of the truck
within 1/2 second or 15 feet, or when the truck cuts in
behind a vehicle within 1/2 second or 15 feet. The alert
ends when the distance between the two vehicles increases
beyond 1/2 second or 15 feet.

speed and set following distance from the vehicle ahead.
Depending on the type and extent of the blockage, Bendix
or disabled. A blockage also will affect cruise control availability. A trouble code will be set.
Vehicle speed increased (+) or reduced (-) to achieve the new set speed while actively
maintaining the following distance with the vehicle ahead, if a forward vehicle is within 500 feet.

FOLLOWING DISTANCE ALERT (FDA)

The Following Distance Alert (FDA) is always on and active
whenever the vehicle is moving 5 mph or greater (whether
or not cruise control is engaged.) This alert provides
both audible and visual warnings whenever the distance
between the truck and the vehicle ahead is less than the
set following distance and getting closer.
If the following distance continues to decrease, the driver
will hear beeping that will become faster. When the
distance reaches a critical point, the instrument cluster will
also illuminate a red LED.
!
WARNING: Any beeping tone by the Wingman
system means that the truck is too close to the vehicle
ahead.
The FDA may be accompanied by text on the dash screen
saying "distance alert". Once the audible warning is given,
the driver must increase the distance between his/her
vehicle and the vehicle ahead until the audible warning
stops.
