6.13.2 To clean and examine the crankshaft and
crankcase
The crankshaft cannot be repaired, replace it if it is worn
or damaged.
1. Examine the connecting rod. Replace the crankshaft
if the connecting rod is worn, damaged or has
discoloration.
2. Examine the crankshaft bearing. Make sure that
there is no radial play in the connecting rod. Make
sure that there is axial play to sufficiently lubricate
the crankshaft bearing.
3. Examine the crankcase halves for cracks and
damages.
6.13.3 To assemble the crankcase
1. Apply heat to the crankcase halves until they are
approximately 110 °C.

WARNING: Use protective gloves.
2. Use a hammer and a mandrel to install the bearings
in the crankcase halves.
3. Install the oil seals in the crankcase halves.
4. Install a new crankcase gasket on the crankcase
half.
