Introduction
The following sections describe call set up sequences between conventional circuit switch
equipment and an Electronic Switched Network (ESN) node, with emphasis on signaling
compatibility. Calls to the node, between nodes, and from the node are described herein.
Several cases are included, based on variations in configuration (cut-through or senderized),
tandems, and so on.
A circuit switch without ESN main or ESN node software is treated as a cut-through circuit
switch in the following discussion. (A circuit switch with ESN main software is not addressed.)
