Device Connection Test in a VDS-TV Environment
It is important to ensure after shipment and drive insertion that all drives are discovered and enumerate
properly. After the equipment is installed and the software is properly configured, perform the following
test to ensure that the storage drives are properly enumerated.
For VDS-TV Version 3.4.1 or higher, execute ccdm -C on. This action causes the red LED of each drive
to turn on, starting with the first drive and progressing to the last drive. After the last drive LED is
illuminated, the LEDs turn off, starting with the first and progressing to the last. This pattern continues
until the test is turned off by entering ccdm -C off.
For VDS-TV versions prior to Version 3.4.1, this test can be performed by echoing 1 to the
/proc/cds/cdd/identify_dev proc file. for example:
echo 1 > /proc/cds/cdd/identify_dev
The test pattern repeats until a 0 is echoed to the proc file.
This test has no effect on normal device operations. We do not recommended, however, that this test be
performed while a device currently has its red LED lit because it indicates a status requiring attention
(for example, device error, device logically removed), and the status LED will go off if the connection
test is started.

Step 4
On the VDS-IS system, if you insert or remove any of the SFPs, then the system must be rebooted for
Note
this change to take effect in the CLI.
