Disconnecting a trailer
●
Put the 4-Wheel AHC in the "LO" (low) mode. (Make sure the vehicle height is in

the "LO" mode by pulling the switch to "" on the height select switch.)
Turn off the engine switch or the 4-Wheel AHC.

Set the supporting leg of a trailer on the ground and raise the hitch by 100 mm (4
3
in.).
Turn on the engine switch or the 4-Wheel AHC.

Wait for about 20 seconds until the rear vehicle height is lowered by the automatic
5
leveling function.
Make sure the hitch is disconnected. If not, raise the hitch higher and repeat steps 2
6
through 5.
Move the vehicle forward in the "LO" mode where the hitch does not touch anything
7
in the N (normal) mode.
Put the 4-Wheel AHC in the N mode.

Tire information

Ensure that your vehicle's tires are properly inflated. (P. 634)

Increase the air pressure of the trailer tires in accordance with the total trailer weight
●
and according to the values recommended by the manufacturer of your trailer.
Trailer lights
■
Check that the turn signal lights and stoplights are operating correctly every time you
hitch up the trailer. Directly wiring up to your vehicle may damage the electrical system
and stop the lights from functioning correctly.
Break-in schedule
■
Lexus recommends that vehicles fitted with new power train components should not be
used for towing trailers for the first 800 km (500 miles).
Selecting trailer ball
■
Matches the size of the trailer coupler.

Matches the ball mount hole diameter size.
●
Matches or exceeds the gross trailer weight rating of the trailer.

Safety chain
■
A safety chain must always be used between the towing vehicle and the trailer. Leave suf-
ficient slack in the chain for turns. The chain should cross under the trailer tongue to pre-
vent the tongue from dropping to the ground in the case that it becomes damaged or
separated. For the correct safety chain installation procedure, ask your Lexus dealer.
