ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

ACTUATOR REMOVAL
STEP 1.
-Extend the unit until the Toeplate is almost in contact with the ground. The intent is not to have
any load on the Actuator to facilitate the removal of the bottom Shoulder Bolt.
NOTE: In the case of the LG-3 Units, it will be necessary to raise the rear of the vehicle so that
the LG-3 Unit may be fully extended. This will facilitate the actuator removal. Lowering the
toeplate over a curb also works well. Two to four inches of height is all that is necessary.
-Remove the two 10-24NC Screws(Phillips Screw Driver) retaining the Actuator Guard.
-Pull the top of the Guard away from top of the Inner Frame, then pull up and out of the unit.
STEP 2.
-Remove the 3/8"Nut (9/16"Wrench) from the bottom 1/2"Shoulder Bolt(1/4"Allen Key).
-Disengage the Actuator Inner Tube from the bottom Clevis Mounts by removing the 1/2"Shoulder
Bolt and 1/2"Washers. CAUTION! The Toeplate/Outer Frame Assembly will be free to fall when
the 1/2"Shoulder Bolt is removed. Provision must be made to shore up the the assembly to not
allow it to fall.
STEP 3.
-Retract the Actuator Inner Tube by pushing the up switch. Note: It may be necessary to stop any
Tube rotation during this cycle by lightly gripping the outside diameter of the Inner Tube.
WARNING! Do Not insert anything in the cross hole at the end of the Inner Tube.
-Remove the 30A Fuse from the Switch Box.
-Remove the electrical tape wrapping the Actuator motor wiring and disengage the connections.
-Remove the 3/8"Nut (9/16"Wrench) from the top 1/2"Shoulder Bolt(1/4"Allen Key).
-Disengage the Actuator from the Top Clevis Mounts by removing the 1/2"Shoulder Bolt and
1/2"Washers. It will be necessary to support the Actuator by the motor when the bolt is removed.
-Tilt the Actuator away from the Inner Frame assembly, passing the Actuator motor through the
cutout in the Inner Frame. Lift the Actuator up and out of the Inner Frame Assembly.
NOTE: If the Actuator is going to be out of the unit for any length of time, the Toeplate/Outer Frame
Assembly may be lifted up manually and the unit may be swung back into the vehicle to its
storage position.
ACTUATOR INSTALLATION
STEP 1.
-If not in already in position, manually lift the Toeplate/Outer Frame assembly up, swing out of the
vehicle, and place the assembly on the ground.
-With the Actuator motor directed toward the Inner Frame assembly cutout, lower the Actuator into
the Inner Frame and pass the Actuator motor through the cutout. Position the top of the Actuator
between the top Clevis Mount brackets. The actuator will need to be supported until the
completion of Step 2.
STEP 2.
-Pass the 1/2"Shoulder Bolt through the cross hole at the top of the Inner Frame, through a
1/2"Washer, and connect the top of the Actuator to the Clevis Mount. Place on another
1/2"Washer and fasten the assembly with a 3/8"Nut using a 9/16"Wrench and 1/4"Allen Key.
STEP 3.
-Re-connect the motor wiring (red wire to red wire) and apply electrical tape to the connections.
-Re-install the 30A Fuse into the Switch Box.
STEP 4.
-Activate the Down switch to extend the Actuator Inner Tube until it is just above the bottom Clevis
Mount. Note:It may be necessary to lightly grip the Inner Tube to prevent its rotation during
extension. DO NOT insert anything in the cross hole on the end of the Inner Tube! Lift the
Toeplate/Outer Frame assembly it engage the Actuator Inner Tube with the bottom Clevis Mount
brackets.
-Insert the 1/2"Shoulder Bolt through a 1/2"Washer and connect the Inner Tube to the bottom
Clevis Mount brackets. Install a 1/2"Washer and secure the assembly with a 3/8"Nut.
STEP 5.
-Re-install the Actuator Guard by slipping the bottom of the Guard down between the Inner and
