Calibration also corrects the tracking errors between the battery and the digital
sensor during charge and discharge cycles and sets the FC and RC values, which
are very important for new battery packs. In addition, calibration compensates for
self-discharge when the battery is stored for long periods.
Conditioning
This process determines the actual usable capacity of a battery pack by
implementing a full charge, followed by a full discharge, then followed by a full
recharge. The OS sets FC=RC=Actual, Measured Full Charge Value.
End of Charge
This is the point in the charging process when full battery capacity is reached. It
occurs when the OS reads maximum voltage and when the charge current is less
than 20mA for a duration 4 minutes.
Initialization
This process occurs on every completed charge cycle and is recommended for
users who want the quickest "out-of-the-box" product usage. It requires a
maximum charge time of 6 hours, depending on the initial charge state. The OS
assumes a full charge capacity of 1700mAh and sets FC=RC=1700. The OS will
not rewrite FC if it is already not equal to 1700.
Full Charge (FC)
This is the value of battery capacity when fully charged, expressed in mAh. It is
written to the battery's fuel gauge chip by the OS at end of charge. The range is
from 1000 mAh to 2000 mAh.
The FC value is available to terminal applications via OS calls.
Percent of Charge (%)
The ratio of the RC (remaining charge) value to the FC (full charge) value
multiplied by 100%. The range is from 0 to 100.
The Percent of Change value is available to terminal applications via OS calls. It is
updated every 20 seconds.
Remaining Charge (RC)
The amount of usable energy in the battery at a given time in mAh. The OS writes
RC=FC at the end of charge. The range is from 0 to FC.
The RC value is available to terminal applications via OS calls. It is updated every
20 seconds.
Safety/Protection Circuit
The VX 680 terminal is equipped with a safety/protection circuit that protects the
terminal from damage. For more information, see
