the key is inserted in the steering
lock without having been turned
(key in position 0).
Tailgate
To unlock the tailgate and doors
with the central locking system,
turn the master key in the tailgate
lock to the left (5) and let it return
to the vertical position. Push in
tailgate lock and lift up the tailgate
to open. To lock the tailgate and
doors, turn the master key to the
right (3) and let it return to the
vertical position.
The tailgate can remain locked
while the central locking system is
unlocked (e.g. while driving or
when leaving the vehicle in a
situation where it must be driven
using the valet key but you wish
the tailgate to remain locked at
parking lots, workshops etc.).

Turn the master key completely to
the right (4) and let it return to the
vertical position. Now the tailgate
can only be unlocked with the
master key by turning it left to
position 2, to permit unlocking via
the central locking system lateron,
or by turning it completely to the
left (5) for opening the tailgate.
Note:
If the fuel filler flap cannot be
opened, refer to Manual Release
of Fuel Filler Flap (see Index).
