Fan failure

Fundamentals
Depending on the version, the cabinet and/or each cabinet unit (transformer unit, cell unit) is
equipped with one or two fans.
In order to maintain drive operation, at least one fan per cabinet unit must be active.
Test procedure
1. The drive is switched on.
2. The power supplies of all fans of a cabinet unit are interrupted.
3. If no fan is switched in again within a specified time, then the drive shuts down.

The test is passed if the appropriate messages are displayed on the test station computer, and
the drive switches off if a fan is no longer running.

Fan change operation

Fundamentals
The fans are controlled alternating in order to guarantee that the operating time is evenly
distributed across the individual fans. A check is made as to whether this alternating operation
functions.

The fault announcement of the cooling system ("Cooling Sys-Trip Alarm") is displayed on
the test station computer.
The following messages are displayed:
– "Cooling Fail VFD / MV Trip" (= cooling system fault)
– "SOP issued MV Input Trip" (= circuit breaker trip)
On the test station computer, a fan failure message and a fault announcement of the cooling
system ("Cooling Sys-Trip Alarm") are displayed.
The following messages are displayed:
