Figure 5.5 shows the position and number of the electrical
entries. Use only shielded wiring.
The relevant installation guidelines must be followed, so
wires must be at least flame-retardant class 1.The
connection terminals are suitable for conductor cross
sections from 0.25 mm² up to 2.5 mm². For Power supply it
should be taken into consideration a maximum rated
working current of 4 A. (Keep the wire resistance in mind
because of the voltage drop.) In case of a short circuit the
power supply must be capable to break the external circuit
breaker or the internal 4A fuse. For signal cables conductor
cross sections greater 0.25 mm² are required.
In general, the connection cables can be used without an
additional Ex Connection box at 2 separate places. For the
connection between Q2 and other equipment, various
control and signal cables are suitable, the choice of which
is determined by the preconditions at the location of use.
Elster Gmbh generally recommends a signal cable with a
line-to-line capacity < 120 pF/m and an inductance <
0.7 µH/m.
The number of wires varies depending on the application, each pair of wires should be twisted
together and shielded together. The maximum cable length depends on the type of signals and
must not be exceeded. A type of cable according to Category 5 (Cat 5) is recommended for data
communication connections via Ethernet. See also the following chapter.
