Transporting the AIT Library

• Verify whether the host computer was turned on less than 10 seconds after
turning on the library. If the host computer is turned on too soon after turning
on the library, the host computer may not detect the SCSI devices. When using
DHCP, wait a least 30 seconds.
• If the "DHCP" setting on the "Network" menu is "YES", try changing the
setting to "NO". t"Connecting to the Network" (page 29) in Chapter 2,
"Installation".
Data cannot be written or read even though the
application and the library are working properly.
• Verify that the erase-protection tab of the cartridge is set to writable. t
"Preparing the Cartridge" (page 25) in Chapter 2, "Installation".
• Use only Sony's AIT cartridges. Also check whether the AIT drive supports
the cartridges.
• If a cartridge has been used for a long time or very frequently, replace it with
a new cartridge.
• Verify that the cartridge is not damaged.
• Try cleaning the AIT drive. t "Cleaning the AIT Drive" (page 63) in
Chapter 5, "Operating the AIT Drive".
The cartridges cannot be taken out.
Follow the instructions in "Taking Out the Cartridges" (page 50) in Chapter 4,
"Operating the AIT Library".
If you are still unable to take out the cartridge, please contact your dealer for
assistance.
The bar code cannot be read.
• Verify that the bar code label is affixed properly so that the numbers are at the
top. t "Preparing the Cartridge" (page 25) in Chapter 2, "Installation".
• Verify that the surface of the bar code label is free from dust and dirt.
Miscellaneous
• Verify the shutter of the cartridge dock is closed tightly.
• When you set or remove a cartridge and "Error 07000001" appears, then on
the "Configuration" menu, set "Barcode" to "NO". Restart the library. When
the AIT library is not equipped with a bar code reader and the bar code setting
is "YES", an error appears when a cartridge is set or ejected.
• Perform a diagnostic test on the AIT library. t "Diagnostic" (page 82) in
Chapter 6, "Using the Library Administration Menu".
If you are transporting the AIT library for any reason, such as moving offices or
repairing the library, make the following preparations:
• Take out all the cartridges set in the AIT library. If the cartridges cannot be
taken out by operating the control buttons, refer to "The cartridges cannot be
taken out." (page 93) in the "Troubleshooting" section to take out the
cartridges.
