Noise Issues - Clicking, Clunking, or Knocking
BEGIN HERE
Issue resolved.
The noise is being caused by
the movement of the pedal arm
bracket against the roller wheel.
This movement is a normal
function of the machine. A level
of "play" has been built into the
pedal arm / roller wheel to
reduce internal mechanical
stress, and to increase the
longevity of the machine.
Issue resolved.
Wiggle each crank arm and
check for play within the crank
or the connecting arm.
Rotate the cranks and check for
any "gritty" or rough feel in the
bearings.
Is either crank making
noise?
NO
Go to Troubleshoot-
ing: Upper (Drive)
Pulley
Remove the tall plastic rear
cover. Tighten the 4 bolts that
hold the top part of the rail
assembly to the frame. Then
tighten the 4 large bolts on the
base assembly.
Does the noise
persist?
NO
Does the noise
NO
persist?
YES
Remove both the crank covers,
and manually rotate the crank
arms. Listen carefully inside the
machine.
WARNING: there will be grease
on the crank arms.
Is the noise
coming from the top
TOP
or the bottom of the
machine?
Replace the Crank
YES
Arm that is making the
noise.
NOTE: If the noise is
coming from the fan area,
jump ahead to the FAN
SECTION below.
Is the noise
coming from the rollers
YES
or pedal arms?
NO
Remove both pedal arms and
rotate the cranks with your
hands.
WARNING: There will be grease
on the crank arms.
**FAN SECTION**
Remove the lower left fan cover.
BOTTOM
Check for and remove any fan
obstruction.
Has the noise gone
away now?
YES
Cleared fan obstruc-
tion. Issue resolved.
