Removing the desktop software

If you choose to remove any existing versions of the desktop software before
installing the latest software, some settings will be lost.
To remove the desktop software
1.
Close the desktop software if it is running.
Microsoft
If you are using the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector to forward your email
messages to your handheld, you must close it before removing the desktop
Exchange
software.

On the Windows taskbar, click Start and select Settings > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. The Add/Remove Programs window appears.
3.
From the Currently installed programs list, select the BlackBerry Desktop
Software. Click Change/Remove. The InstallShield Wizard appears.
4.
Select the Remove option and click Next. The Confirm Deletion window
appears. Click OK. The InstallShield Wizard removes the desktop software.
5.
Click Finish.
You can no longer use the desktop software's tools. Refer to "Installing the desktop
software" on page 34 for more information on installing the desktop software.
Resetting the handheld
On rare occasions, your handheld may report an internal handheld error message,
instructing you to press "
operation after a few minutes. Try sending yourself a message and verify on the
Status screen that all the information has been properly restored to your handheld.
A reset hole is located on the back of your handheld. Usually, you would not need
to reset your handheld using the reset hole. However, if your handheld "locks up"
(no longer responds when you press keys or use the trackwheel), you can use this
method to reset your handheld. You can insert one end of a paper clip in the reset
hole to press the reset button, which will restart and restore your handheld to
