SECTION 6: MAINTENANCE
To reduce risk of shock or
accidental startup, always
disconnect machine from
power before adjustments,
maintenance, or service.
Schedule
For optimum performance from your machine,
follow this maintenance schedule and refer to any
specific instructions given in this section.
Daily Check:
•
Mill/drill is disconnected from power when not
in use.
•
Loose mounting bolts.
•
Mill/drill is clean and lubricated.
•
Worn or damaged wires.
•
Any other unsafe condition.
Monthly Check:
•
Gibs are adjusted properly.
Annual or Biannual Check:
•
Lubricate headstock lead screw and gears.
Lubrication
Regular lubrication will ensure your mill/drill per-
forms at its highest potential. Place two to three
drops of a general machine oil directly on the
ways of the cross slide and saddle. An oil bottle
has been provided for this purpose. Nine ball oil-
ers (Figures 32–34) should be lubricated daily
with several drops of oil.
Protect the unpainted cast iron surfaces with
regular applications of products like G96
