Quick Setup

Table 3-1 gives a quick overview of the VX-40d/-50d/-60d/-80d installation process. The
sections following this one provide detailed instructions.
Installation should be performed by a qualified custom video

installation specialist.
Table 3-1. Installation Overview
Step
1 Choose a location for the projector
2 Install primary projection lens
3 Install CineWide lens mounting assembly (stationary base
plate or AutoScope lens motor – optional)
4 Mount the projector
5 Connect the DHD Controller to the projector
6 Connect signal sources to the DHD Controller
7 Connect external controller to RS-232 port (optional)
8 Connect other home theater components to 12-volt trigger
outputs (optional)
9 Apply power to the projector
10 For rear-screen and/or ceiling-mount installations, select
the proper picture orientation
11 Primary lens adjustments: projected image size (zoom),
position (shift) and focus
12 Install CineWide anamorphic lens (optional)
13 CineWide lens adjustments: projected image size (zoom),
position (shift) and focus
14 Calibrate projector input 1 (RGBHV): perform Auto Setup,
then adjust size/position, input levels, brightness/contrast
etc., as needed
15 Repeat Step 14 for projector Input 2 (DVI), if used
16 Adjust lamp output and optical aperture, as needed
DHD Controller input calibration: adjust the following for

each DHD Controller input, starting with Component SD;
save settings when finished:
• Aspect ratio
• Brightness
• Contrast
• Color level
• Tint
• Input position
