ADJUSTING THE REAR DISC BRAKE
1. Check:
• Brake pedal adjusting bolt position
Check that the end "a" of the brake pedal ad-
justing bolt is visible through the hole "b".
Incorrect → Adjust.
2. Adjust:
• Brake pedal adjusting bolt position

a. Loosen the locknut "1".
b. Adjust the brake pedal adjusting bolt "2" posi-
tion by turning the adjusting bolt in or out so
that its end is visible through the hole.

c. Tighten the locknut "1" to specification.

16 Nm (1.6 m·kg, 11 ft·lb)

WARNING
A soft or spongy feeling in the brake pedal
can indicate the presence of air in the brake
system. Before the vehicle is operated, the
air must be removed by bleeding the brake
system. Air in the brake system will consid-
erably reduce braking performance.

3. Adjust:
• Rear brake light switch
Refer to "ADJUSTING THE REAR BRAKE
LIGHT SWITCH" on page 3-22.

CHECKING THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.
TIP
• Place the vehicle on a suitable stand.
• Make sure the vehicle is upright.
2. Check:
• Brake fluid level
Below the minimum level mark "a" → Add the
recommended brake fluid to the proper level.
