Battery
Adding Waler
to
the Battery
If the battery electrolyte level is low:
I.
First
disconnect the negative (-) leonina] lead from the
battery.
2. Then disconnect the positive (+) tenninallead.
3. Disconnect the battery breather tube.
4. Remove the
bolt
and battery holder.
5. Pull the battery out of its box.
6. Remove the battery filler caps.
7. Using a small syringe, plastic funnel, or hydrometer,
carefully add distilled water to the UPPER level mark. (Tap
water will shorten the service life of the battery.)
Use care when adding distilled water and immediately wash
off any spilled bauery fluid.

Battery electrolyte is highly corrosive alld can damage metal
or painted surfaces.
Battery Storage
If
you plan to
Slore
your motorcycle for longer than (Wa weeks.
we recommend you remove the
battery
and store it where it can
be
charged
at
least every 30 days to maintain its service life.
If
you do not remove the battery, we recommend disconnecting
the battery cables (negative cable first).
You will get the best storage resuhs from removing the battery
and slow (trickle) charging it every
30
days (see Battery
Chargillg, page 148).
