Air Cleaner
The air cleaner should be serviced at regular intervals (page 100).
Service the
air
cleaner more frequently if you ride in unusually
wet or dusty areas. Your Honda dealer can help you determine
the correct selVice interval for your riding conditions.
Proper air cleaner maintenance can prevent premature engine
wear or damage. expensive repairs. low engine power, poor gas
mileage, and spark plug fouling.

Improper or lack ofproper air cleaner maintenance can cause
poor perfonnance and premature engine wear.
Your motorcycle's air cleaner has very specific petfonnance
requirements. Use a new genuine Honda air cleaner specified
for your model or an air cleaner of equal quality.

Using the wrong air cleaner may result in premature engine
damage.
Replacement
I. Remove the seat (page 107).
2. Remove the parts in sequence, as indicated by the
illustration. Be careful not to break any tabs.
3. Remove the air cleaner and evap storage element (California
only).
4. Discard the air cleaner.
(California: Keep the evap storage element for reinstallation.)
5. Install a new air cleaner. Use a new genuine Honda air
cleaner or an air cleaner of equal quality specified for your
model.
6. Install removed parts in the reverse order of removal. Make
sure to engage all tabs and to secure all fasteners.
(California: Reinstall the evap storage element.)
