  • Page 26 PLANET Technology Corp. GRT-101/401 User’s Manual With Dynamic Routing, you can enable GRT-101/GRT-401 to automatically adjust to physical changes in the network’s layout. The Cable/DSL Firewall Router, using the RIP protocol, determines the network packets’ route based on the fewest number of hops between the source and the destination. The RIP protocol regularly broadcasts routing information to other routers on the network.
  • Page 27 GRT-101/GRT-401 on the LAN and incoporates RIP broadcast by other routers into it’s routing table. If set silent, GRT-101/GRT-401 does not broadcast the routing table, but it accepts RIP broadcast packets that it receives.
