1A-43 Engine General Information and Diagnosis:
Step
5 Main relay circuit check
1) Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
2) Install main relay to main fuse box.
3) Measure voltage between "G04-10" wire terminal of
ECM connector and body ground.
Is voltage 10 – 14 V?
6 Main relay circuit check
1) Remove ECM from vehicle body referring to "Engine
Control Module (ECM) Removal and Installation in
Section 1C in related manual" and connect connectors
to ECM.
2) Turn ignition switch to ON position.
3) Measure voltage between "G04-10" wire terminal of
ECM connector and body ground.
Is voltage 0 – 1 V?
7 ECM ground circuit check
1) Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
2) Disconnect connectors from ECM.
3) Measure resistance between each "C41-1", "C41-2" and
"C41-3" wire terminals of ECM connector and body
ground.
Ω
Is resistance 1 or less?
8 Main relay circuit check
1) Using service wire, ground "G04-10" wire terminal of
ECM connector.
2) Turn ignition switch to ON position.
3) Measure voltage between each "G04-5" and "G04-6"
wire terminals of ECM connector and body ground.
Is voltage 10 – 14 V?
9 Main relay circuit check
1) Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
2) Measure resistance between each "G04-5" and "G04-6"
wire terminals of ECM connector and "BLK/RED" wire
terminal of main relay connector.
Ω
Is resistance 1 or less?
Action Yes
Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 8.
Intermittent trouble.
Check for intermittent
referring to "Intermittent
and Poor Connection
Inspection in Section 00
in related manual".
If OK, substitute a
known-good ECM and
recheck.
Intermittent trouble.
Check for intermittent

If OK, substitute a
known-good ECM and
recheck.
Open or high resistance
wire in "BRN/WHT"
circuit.
No
Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 7.
Open or high resistance
wire in "BLK/ORN" or
"BLK" circuit.
Go to Step 9.
Open or high resistance
in "BLK/RED" circuit.
