A. If your Board fails to recognize a pen color, the sensor window in
the slot for that pen may be dirty, blocking the path of light that is
essential for pen recognition. If this light is blocked, the Pen Tray
"thinks" the pen that belongs to that slot remains in place, even if
that pen is in your hand.
Clean any dust off the sensor window inside the slot. Also, try
pushing the colored material at the bottom of the slot down, as it
may have popped up during shipment or while being moved, and
so block the path of light inside the slot.
If none of the pens are recognized by the Board when you
attempt to write, try disconnecting all the cables and the power
supply, and then reconnecting them.
If you still cannot write with the pen or pens, one or more of the
sensors in the Pen Tray slots may be malfunctioning. Contact
SMART Technical Support for further assistance.
Q. When I write on my projected SMART Board, the electronic ink is
displayed at some distance from the pen. Also, the cursor is
displayed at a distance from my finger when I click on the
screen. Why?
A. The SMART Board must be oriented correctly in order to
recognize exactly where you are pressing. Try re-orienting the
Board as described in the SMART Board Installation Guide or
the SMART Board driver online Help.
Also, since you're using a projector, you should verify that your
SMART Board driver is in projected mode to ensure that your
Board will behave as expected.
To verify or change modes, check to see if SMART Board has a
projector in the Board menu is toggled on. If there is no check
mark beside it, select this command and the Board driver will be
put in projected mode.
Q. The writing on my Board is jagged. What would cause this?
A. An improper power supply may cause jagged writing. The power
supply to the Pen Tray must be 12 Volt DC at 0.5 Amps. You
should use the power supply that came with the SMART Board to
ensure trouble-free performance.
