Fusing temperature control during a print job

A. Fusing heater lamp control
• Temperature setting for the fusing belt and the pressure roller varies depending on the
paper type and the copy/print mode in order to prevent declining of the image stability.
• To heat the fusing belt, both the heating roller heater lamp/L and heating roller heater
lamp/S are used. Either of them is energized to control the temperature.
• Either one of the heater lamps is turned ON to control the temperature of the fusing belt.
The two heater lamps can never be turned ON at the same time.
• Either the heating roller heater lamp/L or heating roller heater lamp/S is energized
depending on the fusing temperature, print mode, and paper type.
• To heat the pressure roller, the pressure roller heater lamp is used.
B. Fusing temperature control during printing.
• Fusing temperature control prevents declining of the image stability as well as reduces
curling of the paper, uneven waxing, offset, etc., according to the paper type to be used.
• Fusing temperature adjustment can be made from Service mode/Machine adjustment/
Fusing temperature.
• Adjust the fusing temperature at the heating side first. If the further adjustment is neces-
sary, adjust on the pressure side.

Temperature control during stand-by

• The standby temperature is controlled to accelerate the shift to the print control when a
print job is received.
• Each of the heater lamps is controlled to turn ON or OFF to ensure that the temperature
of the fusing belt and pressure roller falls within a predetermined temperature range.
18.3.7

Temperature control during low power mode

• Fusing temperature is controlled at a level lower in the low power mode than in the
standby state in order to reduce power consumption.
