The ACX500 routers are shipped with Junos OS preinstalled and ready to be configured
when the router is powered on. One 4-GB internal NAND flash memory device is divided
into two partitions (
da0s1
and the other partition functions as an alternate partition. The NAND flash device acts
as the hard drive. One USB port on the front panel accepts a USB storage device (
that can also function as an alternate boot device.
When the router boots, it first attempts to start the image on the USB flash memory
device. If a USB flash memory device is not inserted into the router or the attempt
otherwise fails, the router next tries the active partition on the NAND flash device, and
then tries the alternate partition on the NAND flash device.
You configure the router by issuing Junos OS command-line interface (CLI) commands,
either on a console device attached to the
telnet connection to a network connected to the Routing Engine
panel.
Gather the following information before configuring the router:
Name that the router will use on the network
Domain name that the router will use
IP address and prefix length information for the Ethernet interface
IP address of a default router
IP address of a DNS server
Password for the root user
and
da0s2
). One partition is marked as the active partition,
CONSOLE
port on the front panel, or over a
MGMT
port on the front
