Replacing the system fan

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the system fan, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer stand. See "Replacing the computer stand" on page 89.
3. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 94.
4. Remove the system board shield. See "Replacing the system board shield" on page 96.
5. Remove the VESA mount bracket. See "Replacing the VESA mount bracket" on page 95.
6. Locate the system fan. See "Computer components" on page 29.
7. Disconnect the system fan cable from the system fan connector on the system board. See "Parts on the
system board" on page 34.
8. Remove the three screws that secure the system fan to the chassis. Then, lift the system fan to
remove it from the chassis.

9. Align the screw holes in the new system fan with the mounting studs on the chassis. Then, install the
three screws to secure the system fan to the chassis.
10. Connect the system fan cable to the system fan connector on the system board. See "Parts on the
system board" on page 34.

Replacing a memory module

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter

Note: Ensure that you install memory modules following the installing sequence. Memory slot 1 and memory
slot 2 indicate the installing sequence. See "Parts on the system board" on page 34.
