ASSEMBLING THE OIL PUMP

1. Lubricate:
Inner rotor
G
Outer rotor
G
Oil pump shaft
G
(with the recommended lubricant)
Recommended lubricant
Engine oil
2. Install:
Oil pump housing "1"
G
Dowel pin
G
Outer rotor "2"
G
Inner rotor "3"
G
NOTE:
Align outer rotor mark "a" with inner rotor mark
"b" and assemble them in the oil pump housing.

3. Install:
Oil pump cover
G
Oil pump shaft
G
Dowel pin
G
Oil pump cover screw
7 Nm (0.7 m•kg, 5.1 ft•lb)
NOTE:
When installing the oil pump cover, align the
dowel pin of oil pump shaft with the inner rotor
slot.
4. Check:
Oil pump operation
G
Refer to "CHECKING THE OIL PUMP" on
page 5-40.

1. Install:
Oil strainer

NOTE:
Assemble the oil strainer in the crankcase in the

arrow direction as shown.
2. Install:
Balancer drive gear
G
NOTE:
Direct the balancer drive gear mark outward of
the vehicle during assembling.
3. Install:
Oil pump gasket
G
Oil pump
G
Oil pump bolt
26 Nm (2.6 m•kg, 19 ft•lb)

CAUTION:
After tightening the bolts, make sure the oil
pump turns smoothly.
4. Install:
Oil pump driven gear "1"
G
NOTE:
Direct stamp "a" of the oil pump driven gear out-
ward of the vehicle.

5. Install:
Balancer driven gear "1"
G
Buffer boss "2"
G
Dowel pin "3"
G
Spring "4"
G
(To driven gear)
NOTE:
Align mark "a" of the balancer driven gear with
G
slot "b" of the buffer boss.
