REMOVING THE HANDLEBARS
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

WARNING
Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
2. Remove:
Front brake light switch

Clutch switch
G
NOTE:
Release the key by pressing its projection, and
remove the handlebar from the master cylinder
assembly or clutch lever assembly.
3. Remove:
Handlebar grip "1"
G
NOTE:
Blow compressed air between the handlebar
and the handlebar grip, and gradually push the
grip off the handlebar.

CHECKING THE HANDLEBAR
1. Check:
Handlebar
G
Bends/cracks/damage → Replace.

Do not attempt to straighten a bent handle-
bar as this may dangerously weaken it.

INSTALLING THE HANDLEBAR
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

2. Install:
Handlebar "1"
G
Upper handlebar holders "2"
G
Handlebar holder bolt
23 Nm (2.3 m•kg, 17 ft•lb)

CAUTION:
First, tighten the bolts on the front side of the
handlebar holder, and then on the rear side.
NOTE:
Align mark "a" of the handlebar with the top

face of upper bracket.
The upper handlebar holders should be in-
G
stalled with the arrow marks "b" facing forward
"A".

3. Install:
Special washer

Handlebar grip
G
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
a. Slightly coat the handlebar left end with a rub-
ber adhesive.
b. Slide the handlebar grip over the left end of
the handlebar.
