Troubleshooting
Solving Malfunctions
The table below provides general guidelines for problem solving.
If a problem occurs with your machine, look into the checkpoints and perform procedures indicated on the following
pages. If the problem persists, contact your Service Representative.
NOTE
When contacting us, the serial number will be necessary.
To check the serial number, refer to the following:
Checking the Equipment's Serial Number (page 5-2)
Symptom
The screen does not
respond when the main
power switch is turned on.
Blank sheets are ejected.
Printouts are totally too light.
Checkpoints
Check the power cord.
Are the originals loaded correctly?
Is the paper damp?
Is the toner distributed evenly within the
toner container?
Is EcoPrint mode enabled?

Corrective Actions
Connect both ends of the power cord
securely.
Check that the settings of the
application software.
Replace the paper with new paper.
Shake the toner container from side to
side several times.
Disable [EcoPrint] mode.
Select the [Menu] key > [Adjust/Maint.]
> [Service Setting] > [Drum], and then
select [Yes].
ECOSYS P7040cdn: Select the [Menu]
key > [Adjust/Maint.] > [Service
Setting] > [Drum Heater], and then
select [On].
NOTE
This function cannot be turned on in
some regions.
Make sure the paper type setting is
correct for the paper being used.
