8. Install the expansion board into the slot until it seats firmly.
9. Install the PCI riser board assembly.

Installing a PCI Express Riser Board

1. Power down the server ("Powering Down the Server" on page 25).
2. Extend the server from the rack, if applicable ("Extending the Server from
the Rack" on page 26).
3. Remove the access panel ("Removing the Access Panel" on page 27).
4. Remove the PCI riser board assembly.
5. Remove the expansion slot cover from the slot, if installed ("Installing an
Expansion Board" on page 59).
IMPORTANT: If the expansion board ships with an extender bracket,
remove it from the expansion board before inserting the board into the
expansion slot of the PCI riser board assembly.
IMPORTANT: Be sure that all DIMM slot latches are closed to provide
adequate clearance before installing the PCI riser board assembly with
a half-length expansion board.
IMPORTANT: The server will not power up if the PCI riser board
assembly is not seated properly.
NOTE: The same procedures apply for installing an expansion board in
PCI expansion slot 1.
