Disassembly of the Base Frame
(FIGURES 10 AND 11)

1. If necessary, remove the seat frame from the

base frame. Refer to DISASSEMBLY in PRO-
CEDURE 2 of this manual.

2. Remove the rear wheels. Refer to REMOVING/
I
INSTALLING THE REAR WHEELS in PROCE-
D
DURE 7 of the owner's manual, part number
T
1073955.

3. If so equipped, remove the crossmember of the
foot activate wheel locks. Refer to CHANGING
THE WIDTH OF THE FOOT ACTIVATED
WHEEL LOCKS in this PROCEDURE of the
manual.
4. Remove the cable assembly from the tilt mecha-
S
nisms. Refer to REMOVING/INSTALLING/AD-
E
JUSTING THE CABLE ASSEMBLY in PRO-
C
CEDURE 9 of the owner's manual, part num-
T
ber 1073955.

5. Remove the mounting screws and locknuts that
O
secures the top portion of the tilt mechanisms
N
to the underside of the seat plate assembly
(FIGURE 10).

6. Remove the mounting screws and locknuts that
secures the lower portion of the tilt mechanism
to the mounting brackets (FIGURE 10).
NOTE: Note the position of the adjustable height
pivot tube to maintain the same seat height. See
FIGURE 10 - DETAIL "A" .
7. Remove the mounting screws and locknuts that
secure the seat plate assembly to the base
frame (FIGURE 11).
CHANGING THE WIDTH - SECTION E
8. Lift the seat plate assembly off and set aside
(FIGURE 11).
9. Remove the mounting screws and locknuts
which secures the mounting brackets to the top
front crossmember (FIGURE 11).
NOTE: Note the position of the top front crossmember
for proper reinstallation.
NOTE: Note the position of the top front
crossmember for proper reinstallation of the NEW
top front crossmember. FIGURE 10 - DETAIL "A"
shows the relationship between the adjustable
height pivot tubes and the angle of the mounting
bracket. This relationship must be maintained for
your desired height adjustment, otherwise, 0
o
minimum and 45
tilt maximum will not be obtain-
able.
10. Remove the six (6) mounting screws that se-
cure the three (3) crossmembers to the base
frame (FIGURE 11).
11. Secure the NEW top front crossmember (the
crossmember with the three (3) holes), at the angle
and position noted from above, with two (2) mount-
ing screws and washers. Torque 75-80 inch pounds
(FIGURE 11).
12. Install the remaining two (2) NEW crossmembers
where existing crossmembers were just removed.
Secure with the existing four (4) mounting screws
and washers. Torque 75-80 inch pounds (FIGURE
11).
13. Secure the mounting brackets to the top
crossmember in the angle determined from FIG-
URE 10 - DETAIL "A" (FIGURE 11).
14. Proceed to CHANGING THE WIDTH OF THE
SEAT PLATE ASSEMBLY in this PROCEDURE
of the manual.
