Connecting the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw to the WAN

Use this procedure to connect the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw to the WAN.
Prerequisites
• Connect power to the BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw.
• Obtain a standard Ethernet cable.

Plug one end of the power-supply cable into the BSG8ew power supply.
Plug the other end of the power-supply cable into the AC power source (wall
outlet).
The BSG8ew boots and the system LED turns solid green.
Action
Plug one end of the power-supply cable into the BSG12ew/aw/tw power supply.
Plug the other end of the power-supply cable into the AC power source (wall
outlet).
The BSG12ew/aw/tw boots and the system LED turns solid green.
Action
Plug one end of a standard Ethernet cable into the WAN port on the front of your
BSG8ew/12ew/aw/tw.
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into your WAN edge device (for
example, an external ADSL modem or cable modem).
Plug the RJ11 telephone jack into the ADSL WAN module if you have a
BSG12aw.
