RADIATOR COOLANT

Check th e co o lan t level o f th e reserve ta n k w ith th e
en gin e ru n n in g at n o rm a l o p e ra tin g te m p e ra tu re .
T he level should
"LOW ER" level lines w ith th e m o to rc y c le is in an
u prig h t position.
If the level is low , re m o v e th e reserve ta n k cap, and
fill the tank to the "UPPER" level lin e w ith a 1:1 m ix­
ture o f d istilled w a te r and a n tifre e z e (c o o la n t p re p a ­
ration: p age 7-6).
RECOMMENDED ANTIFREEZE:
Pro Honda HP coolant or equivalent high quality
ethylene glycol antifreeze containing corrosion
protection inhibitors (1:1 mixture w ith distilled
water)
Check to see if th e re a re a n y c o o la n t leaks w h e n th e
coolant level decreases v e ry rap id ly.
If th e reserve ta n k
there is a p ossib ility o f a ir g e ttin g in to th e coo ing
system .
Be sure to re m o v e a n y a ir fro m th e c o o lin g system
(page 7-6).

COOLING SYSTEM

Check th e ra d ie to r a ir p a s s ag e fo r clogs or d am ag e.
Straighten bent fins w ith a s m a ll, fla t b lad e s c rew ­
d river and re m o v e insects, m u d o r o th e r obstru c­
tions w ith co m p ressed a ir o r lo w p ressu re w ater.
Replace th e ra d ia to r if th e a ir flo w is restricted over
m ore th an 20 % o f th e ra d ia tin g surface.

R em ove th e left u n d e r co w l (p a g e 3 -11).
Check fo r a n y co o lan t leakag e fro m th e w a te r p u m p ,
radiator hoses and hose jo ints.
Check th e rad iator hoses fo r cracks o r d e te rio ra tio n
and replace if necessary.
Check th a t all hose c la m p s a re tig h t.
Install th e left und er co w l (p a g e 3 -11).
